International workers apply for a
social
security
number and card. Typically this happens upon arrival in the United
States. If an international worker does not receive a Social Security
number upon submission of their application we recommend that the
employer obtain the following information:
▪
Worker’s
full name,
▪
Address,
▪
Date
and place of birth,
▪
Father's
full name,
▪
Mother's
full maiden name,
▪
Gender
▪
Date
he/ she applied for a Social Security number.
Due to new homeland security policies, the social security number and
cards might be delayed.
Delays are not in our control or yours, but sometimes a call/visit to
the local social security office facilitates a speedier process.
All J-1 workers should have possession of a DS-2019 form. You will see
the J-1 sponsor as well as the name of the responsible officer listed on
the form. If you need further assistance, please contact the responsible
officer of the J-1 sponsor. wap

always available to provide advice and assistance.
